1.1 Information You Provide

Shadow Self is designed with a privacy-first approach. All personal content you create within the App is stored locally on your device only and is not transmitted to our servers. This includes:

• Trigger Journal Entries: Emotional triggers you log, including emotion type, intensity ratings, trigger categories, body locations, and any notes or voice memos
• Dialogue Sessions: Conversations with shadow parts, including your messages and the session history
• Dream Entries: Dreams you log, including descriptions, selected symbols, and interpretations
• Archetype Assessment Results: Your responses to assessment questions and calculated archetype scores
• Progress Data: Lesson completion, meditation minutes, streaks, achievements, and milestone progress
• Voice Memos: Audio recordings you create for trigger tracking, stored locally on your device
• Mirror Work Sessions: Session completion status (camera feed is used live and is not recorded or stored)

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

We collect minimal information necessary for the App to function:

• Subscription Status: Through RevenueCat, we verify whether you have an active premium subscription. This involves a device identifier for subscription validation purposes only.
• App Preferences: Settings you configure within the App, stored locally on your device.

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be clear about what we do not collect:

• We do not collect your name, email address, or create user accounts
• We do not use analytics services (no Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar)
• We do not track your behavior or usage patterns
• We do not use advertising SDKs or show ads
• We do not access your contacts, photos (except camera for mirror work), or other device data
• We do not sync your journal entries, dialogue sessions, or dreams to any cloud server

2. How We Use Your Information

The limited information we process is used for:

• Subscription Management: To verify your subscription status and provide access to premium features
• App Functionality: To enable core features like progress tracking, which all happens locally on your device
• Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries if you contact us directly via email

3. Device Permissions

Shadow Self may request the following device permissions, all of which are optional:

3.1 Microphone

Used to record voice memos for your trigger tracking journal. Recordings are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to any server. You can use the App without granting this permission.

3.2 Camera

Used for mirror work sessions, allowing you to see your reflection during guided exercises. The camera feed is displayed live and is not recorded or stored. You can skip mirror work sessions if you prefer not to grant this permission.

3.3 Speech Recognition

Used to transcribe your voice memos into text for easier review. Transcription may use on-device processing or Apple/Google's speech recognition services according to their respective privacy policies. This feature is optional.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

4.1 RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat for subscription management and in-app purchase processing. RevenueCat processes:

• Device identifiers for subscription validation
• Purchase receipts from Apple App Store or Google Play Store
• Subscription status and entitlements

4.2 Apple App Store / Google Play Store

Subscriptions are processed through Apple or Google's payment systems. Payment information is handled entirely by Apple or Google according to their respective privacy policies. We do not receive or store your payment details.

5. Data Storage and Security

5.1 Local Storage

All your personal content (journal entries, dialogues, dreams, progress) is stored locally on your device using Hive, an encrypted local database. This data remains on your device and is not backed up to our servers.

5.2 Data Backup

Your App data may be included in your device's automatic backup (iCloud for iOS, Google backup for Android) according to your device settings. We recommend enabling device encryption and secure backups to protect your data.

5.3 Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time through the App's settings. Uninstalling the App will also remove all locally stored data from your device.

6. Data Retention

Since your personal content is stored only on your device, you have complete control over data retention. We retain subscription-related information processed through RevenueCat only as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations.

7. Children's Privacy

Shadow Self is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. Your Rights

8.1 General Rights

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you have direct control over it. You can:

• Access all your data within the App
• Export your data through the App's settings
• Delete all your data through the App's settings or by uninstalling the App
